Day 1 – Arrival
Day 2 – Old City of Damascus
Tour of the National Museum with art treasures documenting the cultural richness of Syria. We visit the magnificent Umayyad Mosque with its beautiful mosaics, the tomb of Saladin, and stroll through the typical oriental Souk al- Hamidiyah. The Azem Palace showcases the splendor of oriental rulers. The House of Ananias, a site from the early days of Christianity. The day concludes with a magnificent panoramic view of the Damascus oasis.
Day 3 – The City of Queen Zenobia
Following ancient trade routes, we reach Palmyra. The oasis with extensive palm groves was one of the major urban centers at the border between the Roman Empire and Sassanid Persia. We visit the impressive Baal Temple, the Colonnade with the Agora, the Theater, and the Baal Shamin Temple. After a stunning sunset, we drive through the desert to Homs. Overnight in Homs
Day 4 – Krak des Chevaliers, Maalula, Damascus
Drive to the most famous Crusader fortress in the Near East, located in a strategic position between the Mediterranean and the interior. We follow the highway to Maalula, an Aramaic mountain village where Aramaic is still spoken (the language of Jesus). Visit the two monasteries, Mar Tekla and Mar Sarkis, and hike through the rock canyon. Overnight in Damascus
