Damascus and Bosra – 5-Day Comfort Study Tour
Day 1 – Arrival
Flight to Damascus. Transfer to your hotel
Day 2 – Damascus (Paradise on Earth)
The National Museum houses archaeological treasures from all periods of Syrian history. In the Old City we visit the great Umayyad Mosque, the tomb of Saladin, the Azem Palace, and stroll through the typical oriental Souq al-Hamidiyah. On Straight Street, we follow the footsteps of the Apostle Paul to the Hananias Chapel.
Day 3 – Excursion to Bosra
We drive through the volcanic landscape of Hauran to Bosra and visit the Old City with the best-preserved theater of the Near East. On the way back to Damascus, we visit the city of Philip's Arabs (Shahba) with the most beautiful mosaics of the ancient world. Just before Damascus, we reach the Mausoleum of Zayida Zenab, a monumental memorial for the granddaughter of the Prophet Muhammad.
Day 4 – Maalula, Sydnaya
Day trip to Sydnaya, located in the heart of the Kalamon Mountains. In Sydnaya is the Greek Orthodox nunnery dedicated to Mary, a pilgrimage site for the Christian population. Continue to Maalula; this mountain village is a linguistic island of unique importance, as a dialect of Aramaic is still spoken here. Visit the two monasteries, Mar Tekla and Mar Sarkis.
Day 5 – Departure
Return flight from Damascus
